Instacart shoppers are in-store experts, with a deep understanding of the ins and outs of the stores where they shop. Shoppers know the best way to navigate the grocery store, where to find hard-to-locate items, and how to get from shop to delivery most efficiently.

At Instacart, it’s up to us to deliver a great app experience, acting as a helpful tool for shoppers to get through their shop as seamlessly as possible. We’re always working to help shoppers make the most of their time, developing new features that will make the shopping experience easier and more efficient.

That’s why we’re piloting a new feature called Quick Scan, making it easier and faster for shoppers to scan items in store. To use Quick Scan, you can simply click on an item in your shopping list. The scanner will immediately appear, so you can scan the item you’ve found with only one tap.

The “can’t find item” button will still appear below the scanner, so you don’t need to go through additional steps to mark an item not found. If you’re shopping for an item that does not have a barcode, such as fresh produce, you can click “found item” and enter the item’s weight per usual.

The item’s description, photo, and price will appear below the scanner. If the customer has left a note, it will also appear below the scanner, so you can view all of the necessary information at one glance.

Quick Scan was built based on direct shopper feedback, and is just one of the ways we’re working to help make the shopping experience faster and easier. We look forward to continuing to roll out new product updates to help shoppers pick, pack, and deliver with quality and efficiency.
